Crowdsource - Feedback

I have been having some peculiar issues with the Crowdsource beta story map.

1.  I used the Crowdsource storymap for it's unique community engagement opportunities....then it broke.

I could no longer 'open' the story map, and it just sat there spinning....

I figured that it was unable to reference it's base map....but, I was unable to open/edit the basemap....it had become corrupted

2.  After recreating my Crowdsource storymap it now does not display and instead the link takes me to the arcgisonline sign in page, even though the storymap is shared with "everyone"

Is there any fix for regaining access to my old Crowdsource storymap and opening/editing it's basemap?

And is there an explanation for why I am being directed to an arcgisonline sign in page?

Mike

Hi Mike, sorry your having the issue with the beta version of the story map. Can you verify that the app, map, and all layers in the map are shared publicly? Once you do that, can you share a link to your story and I'll look and see why the basemap may be corrupted. Did you ever edit the app or map outside of the builder? If so, what did you change?

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for your quick reply…..

Yes, I have made all the elements of the map public.

Here is the link to the ‘broken’ Crowdsource Story map

https://kitchenergis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/StoryMapCrowdsource/index.html?appid=54578cbcec3248ef98e0102bc16af623

And, yes, I had edited the map to add in a few layers….two added directly to the map from a zip file from my computer…and another from a feature service from our open data set.

Here is the link to the ‘new’ Crowdsource Story map.

https://kitchenergis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/StoryMapCrowdsource/index.html?appid=7c66b5383eee4309b027d40315dce4cd

This map seems to go to a sign in page…even though it’s all public….or it goes to a white page.

And while I have looking into stuff like this….are these things configured for use on mobile devices….like tablets and smart phones etc?

Is your new app still prompting you to log in? When I first checked it, it made me sign in but no longer does. Did you change anything.

For the first app, can you open the web map in the ArcGIS Online map viewe, remove the old basemap, and then save it again. If the basemap fails to load, try just choosing a layer from the basemap picker then save the web map. If that doesn't fix it, let me know.

Hi Stephen.

Yes….turns out my feature layer wasn’t shared…..changed it…now it works (my mistake…..my apologies).

With respect to the ‘broken’ version….I can’t even open the basemap….it tell shows me an error message, but it doesn’t actually open after that

Here is the error message

Here is the link to the basemap itself.

Yes, it looks like the basemap no longer exists or has been corrupted. You can contact Esri Tech support about that. Instead of opening the basemap only, try opening the full web map with the crowdsource layer in it and replace the basemap with one of the default base maps. Then click save. Try opening the crowdsource app again to see if it works. If it does work, you can try adding your custom basemap again but you should first figure out why the basemap is not loading in the map viewer?

Hi Stephen,

Unfortunately, I can’t open up the full web map….I get the same error about the basemap.

I think I am going to cut my losses and concentrate on trying to keep the latest one as simple as possible….and keep it up and running.

Thanks for your help.
