Is it possible to view Navisworks .nwd data in Pro, and also publish to 3D scene in Portal? I've been able to export .nwd to .obj and .fbx, but cannot view in CityEngine (to then convert to SLPK) as they appear to be too large/complex >2gb.

Is anyone aware of workflow, potentially via FME?

I saw a lot of great 3D BIM demos on the Dev Summit, but I'd like to be able to achieve this in reality!

Thanks in advance.

Hello Josh,

Pro currently do not consume Naviswork data. To solved your problem these are my suggestions.

If you have AutoCAD 2018 or older.

  • Export the Navisworks data into .FBX
  • Load the .FBX file into AutoCAD 2018 or older ( Save the file)
  • Open the .DWG file in Pro
    •  Georeference the .DWG to the "correct" location
    • Export the CAD file to GDB
  • Publish the data as 3D Objects  (NO Textures are available)

FME

  • Export the Navisworks data into .FBX
  • Use FME to convert the .FBX to multipatch.
    • Use the Move\Scale tool in Pro to adjust the file to the "correct" location
  • Publish the data as 3D Objects  (NO Textures are available)

Best regards,

David
