Slow ArcReader - I mean REALLY slow...

Anyone have an issue with ArcReader being extremely slow to open a .pmf map ?  Given 3 users, one never has a problem, but the other 2 report extremely slow load times on occasion.  For these users that experience problems, sometimes ArcReader opens normally, other times they will have to wait half an hour for the map to load.  The map loads layers from Personal Geodatabases, File Geodatabases, and CAD files.

Using Reader SP1, I concur, launching a Reader document over a network is pretty slow.

Once its been launched, though, it picks up in speed, or as I would expect.

Yes, I am finding that it is excruciatingly slow as well. It takes a couple minutes to open my .pmf when i have used a packaged & compressed data file. The worst thing is that a user who is not patient might think that the program has hung or frozen during opening. I wish Esri would at least add a status bar to let the user know that things are happening behind the scenes.

Anyone having issues with the Find tool being very slow to pop up? Sometimes, within a few seconds, other times it takes 30 seconds or more.

If you are still having this problem try this:
go to c:\Program Files (or Program Files x86)\ArcGIS\ArcReader10.0\Locators\
right-click to open DefaultLocators.xml
Delete all of the referenced locators. (I left the ones that are commented out, so I can create my own references in the future)
You can do the exact same thing under ..\Program files\ArcGIS\Desktop10.0\Locators\DefaultLocators.xml
to speed up the locator in ArcMap.
