How to install ArcReader without uninstalling ArcMap 10?

My organization currently has users running Windows 7 with ArcGIS Desktop 10 sp 3. Now people would like to install ArcReader, but ArcReader won't install, giving the message that ArcGIS Desktop needs to be uninstalled first.

Is there a way to install ArcReader anyway, without uninstalling other ESRI products?

What version of ArcReader are you trying to install?  If it is not 10.0, then the ESRI software will tell you that you have to uninstall ESRI software that is different from that version.

You are so right -- that was the problem. People were trying to install the latest version of ArcReader and not version 10.0.
