Cannot open ArcReader doc's through ArcCatalog

WIN XP SP2, ArcDesktop 10.0 SP2, ArcReader 10.0 SP2

Dbl-Clicking the published map document (PMF) from ArcCatalog does not open the document in ArcReader.  It works through Windows' file manager.

This error is displayed: "Edit Properties Failed" (dialog), "Failed to edit the selected object(s)" (message)

update: forgot to mention, other documents (e.g. mxd, pdf, txt, etc.) open fine through arccatalog.

I held off doing this due to following message, but I finally added the PMF extension ArcCatalog's "file types."  ArcReader PMF's documents can now be opened through ArcCatalog.

Extension In Use
"PMF" is a file type used by some Catalog items.  If you add this file type, some Catalog items may not work properly. Are you sure you want to continue.

FYI - Had to do this at version 10.2.2 as well.  Note: Must exit and restart ArcCatalog after making the changes.
