has anyone tried to use ArcReader 10.2 on a Windows 8.1 tablet.

One of my clients want to get tablets and use ArcReader on them but I am not certain if things will work.

I am using ArcGIS 10.2 on a Windows XP machine.  We have had zero issues with 10.2

Right now we are considering a Dell Venue 8 Pro (32GB)

Our systems are in Windows XP and using 10.2 and I made an PMF and brought the database home and ran it on my Windows 8.1 Laptop and it worked very well.

However with a tablet you typically don't have the graphics power of a computer.

I would suggest staying away from Windows RT.  Look for a device that has full windows on it and a more robust GPU.

The good stuff will cost you a bit more, but it will work better.

I personally like these

One of my friends also faced this kind of problem with his tablet. I think, May be this kind of problem will happen with improper settings. If anyone knows the details about the solution of this problem, Please share those details.

Robert,

I wouldn't recommend the Dell Venue 8 Pro  32gb for a couple reason.  First the Atom processor is not powerful enough to run the software and second, a good portion of 32gb hard drive is used up by the operating system.

We are using the Dell Venue 11 Pro with I5 and 8gigs of ram and besides a few issues, arcreader is working good. My boss has a surface Pro and I have a Samsung both running 8.1 and arcreader with no problems. Also I personal have a Venue 8 Pro 64gb and arcreader would not load 90% of the time.

Arcreader is not very touch friendly but the dell pen helps work around that.  This can also be fixed if you customize arcreader. Read up on the Dell Venue 11 issues as well as the pen and see if this is the right product for you.

Hope I helped,

Richard Allen, GISP
