PROBLEM RESOLVED - After installing SQL Server Native Client 10.0 ODBC Driver
A Summary:
- We're going from an old Windows Server (SDE 9.3 on SQL 2000) to a new server (Server 10.2.2 using direct connections to a SQL 2012 enterprise geodatabase)
- Using ArcGIS Desktop Standard 10.2.2 -- Created new MXD's pointing all data to the new server using direct connections -- database authentication where the "guest" user is assigned "Select" privileges.
- On "ArcReader" only, Windows 7 pro, PC's -- uninstalled old ArcReader using the 10.2.2 uninstall utility and installed ArcReader 10.2.2 plus existing patches.
ArcReader accesses the geodatabse data fine on some computers but on others the data is inaccessible. When looking at the "Source" tab of the feature through ArcReader...
This is what is looks like from a PC that can access the data:
Data Type: ArcSDE Database
Location: Server: hcgis2
User: guest
Instance: sde:sqlserver:hcgis2
GISgdb
Version: GIS.Edits
Description:
Feature Dataset: GISgdb.GIS.Cadastral
Feature Class: GISgdb.GIS.ParcelPoly
This is what displays on a PC that CANNOT access the data:
Data Type: Unknown
Feature Class: GISgdb.GIS.ParcelPoly
Connection Details:
SERVER: hcgis2
INSTANCE: sde:sqlserver:hcgis2
DBCLIENT: sqlserver
DB_CONNECTION_PROPERTIES: hcgis2
DATABASE: GISgdb
IS_GEODATABASE: true
AUTHENTICATION_MODE: DBMS
USER: guest
PASSWORD:
CONNPROP-REV: Rev1.0
VERSION: GIS.Edits
Feature Dataset: GISgdb.GIS.Cadastral
I don't think network rights are the problem, because I can login as myself and ArcReader has troubles. The problem seems computer specific.
One other thing I tried, even though were not accessing the data via ODBC connections, was to install the "MS ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server" in case ESRI's software used somehow that for database connections.
So, any ideas??? Thank you.
