Hi,

We want to use PDA/GPS to record household level survey data and the geographical position of the household within a single database while in the field. We have purchased a number of Trimble Juno's for this purpose, but they do not come with GPS software.

Since we already use ArcGIS 8 and 9, we've been told that ArcPad would solve our problem. Never having used ArcPad, which version would be most suitable for our purpose?
- ArcPad 7.1.1 (@ $750)
- ArcPad 8 (@ $1,050)
- ArcPad 10 (@ $1,050)

Would one actually provide us with better functionality for our purpose? Or would the earlier version be sufficient (assuming that they have the capability of recording socio-economic survey data along with the GPS coordinates in the same database)?

Thanks for your advice.

I would go with ArcPad 10 from ESRI if those are the prices you're getting offered by your local distributor. They sell version 10 for $700.

Any version could do the things you mentioned, but I would go with 10 just for related table handling if related tables are at all involved in your project.

Good luck!
