Hello,
I wish to know if it is possible to display the GPS accuracy (i.e. +- 'x' m) somewhere, for example in the GPS Position Window ?
The PDOP is helpful, but not sufficient for some of the tasks we have to do.

We are using ArcPad 10 on a Trimble GeoExplorer 6000 XH.

To be sure of the precision of the signal, I usually open TerraSync and ArcPad together.  I would like to be able to do it all in Arcpad...

Thanks,

Sandra

The newest version of ArcPad 10.0.4 will show estimated positional accuracy in the GPS Position Window. It is not in the dialog box in the map screen, but when you tap on the dialog box it will open the full window and then if you navigate to the quality tab it will provide the information you are looking to view(EPE, HPE, VPE).

Hi,
Thanks for your answer.  Unfortunately, since I am using a Trimble receiver, it is not working.

For those who are using a Trimble GeoExplorer 6000 with ArcPad, just be aware that this kind of information is not displayed in ArcPad.
You have to buy the GPScorrect extension from Trimble that will enable Arcpad to get these informations (skyplot, PDOP, position error) from the receiver.

I was send back and forth from ESRI tech support to Cansel to find out about that.

Hi Sandra,

I think I am having the same problem.   We have purchased a set of Trimble Juno SB handheld devices and ArcPAD 8.0.   I was hoping that after creating features in the field that the estimated accuracy would be displayed in the attribute table of the features as I have seen in the past with other GPS units/software.

From what I understand in this thread, I need to purchase the GPS correct from Trimble to obtain this information?    Now that you GPS correct does the shapefile table display accuracy information or is it more complicated than that?

Anyone out there figured out a work around for this?   Or a way of adjusting the GPS settings in ArcPAD to ensure +or- 2 meter accuracy.

Thanks,

Hi Tdreid,
I don't think ArcPad can give you the estimated accuracy in the attribute table, unless you write a script in ArcPad studio to automatically add the information.
But, since you are using a Trimble device, it might not work given that the GPS does not communicate all this information to ArcPad.
I don't know if the GPScorrect extension will allow you to do that, I did not tested it yet...

Sorry to be of not much help...
