GPS Protocol\Port\Baud in the ArcPad,

I couldn??t figure out where one can find precise elaboration regarding the effect to setting particular protocol\port\Baud.

If using Zeno Connect with the GG03 and CS25, the settings should be as follows:

Protocol: NMEA 0183
Port: COM 66
Baud: 115200

It depends on the GPS you are using as to the setup you will need for the ArcPad GPS Preferences.

Your GPS Protocol and Baud Rate describe how the GPS will communicate with ArcPad - think of the protocol as the structure of the GPS signals and the Baud Rate as the number of signals per second. This information tells ArcPad how to interpret the signals that it is recieving. This information can usually be found in the technical specifications for your GPS.

The Port describes where the GPS is communicating from: for example, when partnering a Bluetooth GPS with your Windows Mobile Device, you will have configured the serial port on your GPS to communicate through a numbered COM Port on the device.

Having the ability to communicate with many different GPS devices that may have different protocols and baud rates and be connected to your device using different COM Ports is one of the most powerful features in ArcPad!

Tip: Using the 'Find' tool on the GPS Preferences Dialog (the binoculars icon), ArcPad will scan your device, searching for a GPS. If it is able to finds one automatically, it will set the GPS Preferences for you 🙂

Thank you very much Hannah for the elaboration. Now it is much more clearer.
