Exiting ArcPad 8 can be a pain if you forget to quit editing, or disconnect from the GPS.

When changing an Advanced Setting for Extensions, or Favorites, ArcPad says you must "Restart" to make some changes effective.  However, if you do so without first stopping editing, and disconnecting from the GPS, ArcPad locks up.

The window goes back to the "Today" screen, but at the bottom you can still see ArcPad and GPScorrect are not fully closed.  Memory/Running Programs does not show them running, but you can not relaunch the program until you reboot the system.  This is a pain because it is quite easy to do even if you know about the bug.

Does anyone have an application that will automatically quit editing and disconnect from the GPS before actually closing the program?

If so, please share it with us other forgetful people.

Have you tried service pack 4? The locking of ArcPad when disconnecting the GPS is one of the fixes in that service pack
