convert .amp files to mxd files

I would like to know how to convert amp files to mxd files. I've tried to add just shapefiles and then save as an msd, but the amp files don't appear to have any associated shape files.  The layers in the maps work in ArcPad and I can turn them on/off and edit them, but for some reason no shapefiles are stored.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry I meant apm files not amp

As far as I know, there is no way of converting ArcPad map documents (.apm) to ArcMap map documents (.mxd).

You may be able to create some kind of ArcObjects code that would read the .apm file and somehow load the layers with symbology into a map document in ArcMap and save this to an .mxd but I doubt that anybody has made that (yet :))
