Checking out AXF file from SDE

I could check out data from SDE but maybe with too many steps:

Create a replica from a version of the SDE. Check out data from the replica and deploy to device or open on desktop. Perform edits and check in to the replica. Open version and synchronize changes with replica. Reconcile version and send to post!

I would like to know if there could be lesser steps in achieving same results.

Thanks.
Marvin.

Marvin,

ArcPad  check-out tool can check out data directly from SDE data. why do you want to create a replica first?

GE,

I could only check shapefiles data out using the ArcPad tools, but I need to check AXF files out using the ArcPad Data Manager tool or from the ArcToolbox. I have never been able to have relational tables/records on forms with shapefiles. AXF files are capable of coming with those records. ArcMap stops running every time I try to check AXF files out, even from a version. My problem could be level of permission using the SDE.

Kindly let me know if this relates to your situation.

Thanks
Marvin

GE,

I have a question regarding the check-out replication process from an SDE version.  I am creating a replica GDB from a version so that I can bring data collected with a GPS back into that replica personal GDB as to differentially correct the field data.  I am doing this through ArcGIS 9.3.1.

I keep getting the following error after I try to create a replica:

"Create replica failed.
Invalid Column value [Name]"

This only happens when I specify that I would like to see the advanced options and then select only one feature class from my feature dataset.  If I do not check the advanced options box and create the replica, it works.  Any ideas?  Thanks for the help in advance.

Marvin,

I started having the same issue after moving to 10. No matter what I tried during the check out process ArcMap would completely shut down.  I called ESRI and got Juan out of the Charlotte office. He had me create a folder on my C: drive and check out the data to it. It worked fine. Before, I had my data going to a folder, within a folder, within a folder, on the network. Hopefully this works for you.

Marti:

Can you explain further on checking out AXF files in to a folder created on C? Are you checking out from SDE?
