Can TrackLog be used with GPScorrect?

I am using a GeoXT 6000 series Trimble w/ Arcpad 10 and GPScorrect installed and a Tempest antenna.

I need to survey 15 locations and I'm trying to achieve the highest precision possible.  My advisor suggested using TrackLog to create a batch of points over an hour at each site, then differentially correcting each point with the GPS Analyst extension, and finally averaging all of those points to get one high precision point for each survey location.  I did a small test using TrackLog, but I seem to have run into a problem when it comes to bringing the TrackLog.shp file into a personal geodatabase and GNSS-enabling the database and TrackLog file.

Originally, I created the personal geodatabase and shapefiles in ArcCatalog ahead of time and used the point averaging feature to collect the survey point, but I was not getting the desired level of precision.  The test I did with TrackLog was using the original database and a freshly checked out point shapefile (but that didn't seem to matter since ArcPad creates a new shapefile for TrackLog).

I don't have Pathfinder Office available to do the post-processing.

Can I use TrackLog with GPScorrect and the GPS Analyst extension?

Is this the best method for surveying a location with the equipment I listed?

I did notice a similar question posted back in 2009, but it had not been answered and I wasn't sure if the answer might have changed since then anyhow.  http://forums.esri.com/Thread.asp?c=34&f=1172&t=287851

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Hi Matt,

Rather than use the tracklog, you should probably create a shapefile in ArcMap, run that through GPS Analyst to get it ready to work with GPScorrect in ArcPad.

Then when you are in ArcPad, turn on averaging for the gps collection. Then you can bring the data back into ArcMap using GPS Analyst.

Let me know how you go.

Cheers,

Gareth
