ArcGIS 10.5.1 crashes when calling up any Geoprocessing tool, any tool from the toolbox and when loading basemap...

I run ArcGIS 10.5.1. Recently, the software started behaving starngely namely:

Each time I call up any Geo processing tool such as Buffer etc, Arcmap crashes. It does same when I call up any tool from the extension toolbox such as Project, Clip raster, etc. Attempt to load basemap crashes the software also. What actually could be happening??

I have taken these steps as seen online:

1. Cleared cache several times

2. Turned off "Hardware Acceleration"

The problem still persists.

My desktop is 32GG RAM and 4T HDD machine. So I don't think memory and space are the issues here.

Please suggest any solution.

Did you try the 'repair' option through Windows control panel, Add/Remove programs or should that fail.... resetting your application profile
