How to keep District Lookup widget address icon visible after looking at attributes

I am trying to implement the School Locator Solution. The issue I am having is that the address / location Icon that is drawn over the searched location is removed after looking at the attributes from the first responded polygon.  This behavior is present in the Sample Application from esri. 

To recreate the issue

1. Use district lookup to set location  - the location will be set and provided an icon  the widget will have three results ( one for each attendance zone)
2. click on the first result in the list to see the attributes for that polygon
3. click back - to get the list to look at another polygon 
4. the icon is removed but the popup remains 

Is this a bug.  I can't imagine this is a desired experience
