Add search bar function to the Plateu theme

I'm using another web app as the model for our own. I believe I am using the same theme as Sandy Springs, but they have a search bar in the upper left. I'd like to have this function as well, but I don't know how to enable this feature. All the widgets are tied to the upper right hand black bar.

You just have to make the search widget visible.
