Currently, the only way to finish or close a drawing using the measurement tool requires double-clicking. Clients who are older or have limitations with their hands can struggle clicking fast enough or in the same spot for the webapp to register a double-click. It would be nice to have an alternative method to finish a drawing that is more accessible.
Hi @HeatherStudley1,
Thank you for your idea. I understand your concern. Please keep in mind that Web App Builder is being retired. We strongly encourage you to migrate to the newer ArcGIS Experience Builder for the latest features and continued support. You may wish to submit your idea for that app as well.
There are some options that might be helpful in the meantime.
One option is that you click the x to close the measure widget. Another option to consider is that you can set the time (speed) for your computer's double-click action through your operating system's mouse settings. Hope that helps
Hello @EmilyGeo
The widget behavior is the same in both applications. The version in Experience Builder shows numbers as you're drawing, which is more useful, but still requires double clicking to close/finish the measurement shape, which is required if you want to be able to have the information up and move away from the widget.
A client who is having issues using the widget isn't going to think to adjust their double-click options, they're just going to see that the tool "isn't working". At best they will be frustrated and quit using my application. If I'm lucky they will contact me and I can help them, but most people are not going to do that. Hence my idea of including a button within the widget to close/finish the measurement/drawing.
I am not seeing how closing the tool helps with the inability to finish a drawing.
