Hi,

I am new using ArcGIS Viewer for Silver light. I have changed the symbology of one of the layers on the mxd, republished the map service and cleared the rest. Then I loaded the ArcGIS Viewer for Silver light, click on edit site, click on layers, rigth click on the layer and click on refresh, and save edits. However, the symbolgy is not updated.

Any advice please,

Thanks,

Hi Manuel,

Thanks, I did this and it worked.
Now I am having another issue: I added a new layer to my mxd on the top of the last layer. Last layer name = Parcels, republished the service, cleared the cached. Then I though it would be updated automatically on the silver light application but no.
So I added the new layer as entering the rest end point as below
http://servernane/ArcGIS/rest/services/GISViewer/newlayer/9. As the position of the layers in the mxd changed, the services appear not correctly referenced in the Silverlight application.

on the rest I have:

http://servernane/ArcGIS/rest/services/GISViewer/newlayer/9.
http://servernane/ArcGIS/rest/services/GISViewer/Parcels/10

So I removed the Parcels layer and added again.

Is this how Silver light works? Or is there a better way of making this updates?

Many thanks,

T

Hi Manuel,

I am trying to publish map services. I am sorry about the confusion. I want to update an existing silverlight application which is using one map service.  I updated the mxd (added a new layer) and republished the map service. What do I have to do to see the changes on the silverlight application?

Many thanks,

Hi Tamadie,

If I add a new layer to a map that its load in an application, and then rewrite the service, the application when refresh it has the new layer. There are some issues like symbology, that I need to remove and then add it again the map service en the application, but not new layers or data changes.
If you work with 10.1 server you just has to re publish the service with the option overwrite an existing service.
When we have 10 server we need to re start the service and clear the cache. Sometimes the order of the steps just commented can give you trouble. Try to check the service directory to see that the service effectively change, then refresh the application. Last step if the service change but the application did not, should be to remove and add the service in the viewer again.

Hope it help.
Regards, Manuel

Hi Manuel,

Many thanks again. Can you please tell me  what you mean with" the application when refresh it". Do you do something within the application to refresh it?

Kind Regards,
