First a great thanks to Robert Scheitlin and other widget creators for providing and upgrading all those great widgets for use in flexviewer 3.0

1) In the process of migrating our web map apps to 3.0 we are facing a problem with a few of the widgets (Bookmark, TOC and Dynamic Legend) that the vertical scrollbar does not appear when the list is larger than the size of the widget window. We tried to insert <width> and <height> tag in the widget config code. But this doesn't help.

Url to our demo web map: https://unosatgis.cern.ch/WebMap/flex30/unosat/demo/ibdemo/

2) Implementing the Weather Underground Widget we get an error message Error #2036 - we have been following the instruction in the readme file and have used the previous widget in our 2.3 web map apps.

3) Finally, we would encourage re-compilation of the following very useful widgets:
Social Media Widget created by piang,
Enhanced Bookmark Widget created MichaelK
and Elevation Profile Widget created by markdeaton
(markdeaton has provided the source code for the widget, but we don't possess the tools and the skills for re-compiling)

May the above mentioned widgets eventual be included on Robert's list for upgrading and re-compilation - which will be a highly appreciated help for us.

Thanks for any supportive response.

Bookmark ... the vertical scrollbar

Are you using the esri-compiled Bookmark widget?

Mark updated the download a while back - it contains a 3.0 compiled widget.

Hi Bjorn,

Thanks for your quick reply..

Are you using the esri-compiled Bookmark widget?

Yes, at the present web map https://unosatgis.cern.ch/WebMap/flex30/unosat/demo/ibdemo/ we are using the esri-compiled Bookmark widget included in 3.0 flexviewer code.

The problem with the missing vertical scroll bar appears with esri-compiled Bookmark widget as well as with Roberts re-compiled TOC and Dynamic Legend widgets.

Mark updated the download a while back - it contains a 3.0 compiled widget.

I just checked again Marks Elevation widget at http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=b9d247c297f144459854751740f59f68

and the download does contain the source code but not a re-compiled version.

I could not find Mark's widget at the ESRI Resource Center http://www.arcgis.com/home/search.html?q=flex%20viewer&focus=applications-web-flex&sortField=owner&s...

May I suggest - if possible - a search function, that allows select only compiled widgets and sort after flexviewer version. This would make it easier to overview new widgets ready for use in 3.0 - and hopefully also encourage creators to upgrade their widgets to latest version. When using those great widgets provided by other users it is an issue when a new version of flexviewer is released and some widgets can't be used with the new version.

Thanks for your reply and support.

Be sure that you are using the new WeatherUndergroundWidget.xml and notice that the name of the widget WeatherUndergroundWidget.swf may be different than what you were using in 2.3.  The ReadMe.txt give you and example (towards the end) of what has to be added to the main config.xml.

I believe that the scrollbar issue is a Adobe SDK issue as I have seen it in multiple apps. But it will be good to see what the Flex API team comes up with now that we you have their attention on this.

As you probably know all my widget that I support (minus the chart widget which I do not support) are upgraded to FV3.0 the same week the new 3.0 viewer was released. It is the responsibility of the other widget creator to continue to upgrade their widgets or in my opinion they should not post something that they do not intend to maintain unless the say so from the beginning.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your reply. I noticed that you are always fast in upgrading your widgets.. Thanks for that... I agree that widget owners should be committed to keep their widgets updated.. a widget that after time must be disabled from the web map because it is not updated is not worth much...

I got the wrong impression that you had also re-compiled the widgets created by others and therefore hoped you could assist with those missing - but I see then you would have lots to do... 😉

I will check the WeatherUndergroundWidget again and keep you posted the result...

Hope the Flex API team comes up with something regarding the missing scrollbars.

Hi Robert,

Thanks.. you were right there was a mismatch in spelling in the main config and the name of the WeatherUndergroundWidget.xml and
WeatherUndergroundWidget.swf files....

Now it works... Thanks!!

Hi Bjorn, Robert and Mark,

Thanks... then I also found Marks compiled ElevationProfileWidget for 3.0... hidden in the folder named runtime under the folder 3.0(AppBuilder compatible)... 😉

Only remaining issues are then:

1) The missing vertical scrollbars for extended widgets (Bookmark, Dynamic Legend, TOC etc.) the problem is not consistent but appears sometime and sometime not.??? Weird..

2) Missing upgrade of useful widgets like SocialMediaWidget (pjiang) and SelectionWidget (mhoyland)
Is it possible that some of the cool widgets created by Robert and others may be included in the collection of standard widget of the flexviewer in the future, as these may be useful for many users - and on long term it may not be reliable that the creator is still active in the widget community.

Thanks to all widget creators.
