Opening OverviewMapWidget

Depending on the users selection within my widget I can zoom to various locations, scales, switch on/off layers etc. What I would like to do is to open the Overview Map as well. I am getting NaN for the widgetid so cannot open the widget in this way. I assume that is because it is defined in the UI section and not the main body of config.xml. Is it possible to open OverviewMapWidget from my widget?

   You can do it by following this forum post answer of mine:
