Hi Everybody,
I'm adding a Google Maps Base Map on my viewer.
Just wanna know more about the viability of the url below into the Flex layer tag :

<layer id="google" visible="true" type="tiled" alpha="1"
         url="http://server.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Street_Map/MapServer?f=gmaps">
</layer>

I'm particularly confused at the request level : the ?f=gmaps thing.
Flex Viewer 2.5
ArcGIS Server 10 REST API.

bkfreda,

Why do you need to add the layer in as Google base maps when its coming from an ArcGIS Server. Just use the REST endpoint in your flex application:

http://server.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Street_Map/MapServer

You didn't understand my question.
I just wanna tell you that I wanna add a Google Maps Base Map not a World_Street_Map in the Flex Viewer.

Check this for the all the formats
http://atlas.resources.ca.gov/arcgis/SDK/REST/formattypes.html

is there anyway we can add the base map layer as a Layer tag for Flex with or without the REST API ? is there any script code for this ?

bkfreda,

Technically, it is possible to embed Google Maps data into the Viewer. However, from a legal/licensing standpoint the answer is a little more complicated as there are legal constraints applied by Google that will not allow you to use their data outside of their APIs . Check this thread out:
