I need to recreate a map that was done in MapGuide and bring it into Flex. This map has literally 100+ layers in it....way too many for the TOC to handle effectively.
One thing that MapGuide does really well is only show layers in the TOC that can possibly be viewed on the current screen. For example, if you zoom into a town and that town has a specific orthophoto then it will become available in the TOC to check on/off....as soon as you zoom away it gets removed from the TOC. This really helps a lot when dealing with so many layers over a wide geographic area.
Can this be done in Flex? Could it be as simple as a few lines of code that state "if layer is not in screen extents then hide it from the TOC"?
Just looking to get some thoughts on this...
