Does anyone know if and/how you could place Google Analytics code for a flex viewer application to track usage?

Steve-

Can you explain how this is done? Are you using Google Analytics Tracking for Adobe Flash?

Thanks.

No, it's just the google analytics code inserted into the html.  It just tracks the usage on the main entry page.

Here are some previous discussions on tracking usage on the application

To Mark Hoyland, et. al.,

Google Analytics fails to report a great deal of the traffic on my Flex Viewer site.

I've had the Google Analytics HTML snippet installed in my Flex Viewer site for more than a year.  I have it installed in the Index.html file, but not in the MXML or AS3 files, yet.  It shows many visits and shows the time of some visits as lasting many minutes.

However, quite often, when I check the reverse-proxy server logs, I can see visits of several minutes duration or longer which don't show up at all in the Google Analytics reports or which show up as a 0 or 1 second visit.

Questions:

  • Would installing the MXML or AS3 code in the my viewer cause these mystery visits to show up properly?

  • Is there some sort of deliberate or unintentional blocking by some networks or users that occurs that prevents activity from being reported to Google Analytics?

Please respond with any information you have to offer.

Best regards,

David, I cant really answer that as I just use the tools provided by Google.
I think these are questions that you would need to ask Google Analytics support or a Google Analytics forum.

Here is a link to the Google Analytics support page, There is a forum on that page as well.

You could try the AS3 Google Analytics code and monitor the tracking.
If you are still not getting the result you need then you might have to look at a commercial product to track your site usage (i do not know what is available).
