Error for "apply buffer" on esearch

I am using 3.1.9 version esearch.  When first click on "Apply buffer" button on Spatial Search I get error message instead of show me "There is no result to buffer, please make a graphical or text search first"
I tested on esearch website also got error message (http://gis.calhouncounty.org/FlexViewer3.1/index.html?config=config-eSearch.xml) but if you use this (http://gis.calhouncounty.org/FlexViewer3.1/index.html?config=config-eSearch.xml&esearch=2&slayer=3&e...) you will see the message.
Any ideas to change it?  Thanks.

May Jeff,

   You have to have search results on the map before you can apply the buffer to them. That is what the message "There is no result to buffer, please make a graphical or text search first" is trying to tell you.

It works fine if you perform search first. The only problem if user accidentally click "Apply buffer" button then will get the error message.  It would be nice to show this message "There is no result to buffer, please make a graphical or text search first".
