Hi All,

I've been looking for a GP widget but am not finding one. It appears, in order to deploy custom gp tools from ArcGIS Server, one needs to also develop custom widgets. Will someone please validate this for me?

If this is true, will you also be kind enough to provide some high-level steps or documented examples on how to build such a custom widget?

Many thanks!!

Hi Aaron,

a good idea. I also looking for a gp widget.
The problem is, i just start to beginn creating widget with flex api.
Normally i´m a gis expert and a python programmer. But i´m looking for well documeted instructions or tutorials how to built a gp widget.
Surely you can look at the sample codes, but it´s more important to understand the structure.
so it would be nice if someone can share the experience.

I can only the support the question of aaron to support high level steps of making a gp widget.

PS: Aaron do you have ever built a query widget?

Thanks
Holm

Hi Aaron and Holm

I know this response is a little late, but we recently wrote a high-level guide to developing for the Flex Viewer, and there is some information in there about creating geoprocessing widgets.

A Beginner's Guide to Extending ArcGIS Viewer for Flex

Hopefully this will be useful to someone. If anyone has comments, please don't hesitate to get in touch via the link above!

Hi Xander

Really sorry about that: the problem has now been fixed. Thanks for spotting the broken link so quickly!

We created the document because we saw many GIS professionals who were interested in starting to develop widgets for Flex Viewer but they were in need of a high-level introduction before diving into the official developer-focused documentation on Arcgis.com.

We'd really appreciate any feedback, no matter how critical it is, about areas which don't seem well-explained from a non-developer's perspective, or any extra information you'd like to see added.

Thanks
Simon

Hi Everyone,

I just did some quick searching and it looks like the link is broken again.  The ESRI UK page has been redesigned.

Anyone know where I could find the document or something similar?

Thanks!
