Hello:
I have a question about the appearance of the pulldown menus in a select_one field. Is there a way to control the size of the pulldown menu, like to see 10 or 20 of the options instead 5 or so that seems to be the default.
I have a couple of longish choice lists (max 30, static values), would save on scrolling time in the app if more selections would show in the pulldown.
Thank You!
I'm not sure, but once I go past 12-15 options I usually use autocomplete appearance instead. I've gotten a lot of positive feedback about that appearance. This assumes the field worker has domain knowledge to know which option they're after, however.
Thanks for the info on your experience. I finally discovered the autocomplete was handy as well, but then again, I know all the 30 choices by heart after too many years! 😉 I am just trying to make it easy on the new user who is learning them.
Another possibility might be to break the 30 options into groups, if that can be done logically, and turn your single question into two separate questions. Like if you could break it into five groups of six options, have an initial question to select the group, then filter the second question based on the first question's result.
@VickiG I love the autocomplete too, but if you want them all to show, you might like this option.
in the appearance column type in: compact-5
Thanks Mobius and Michelle for the great suggestions. I will play around and see if these might help the workflow. Just trying to avoid endless scrolling and crabby field biologists 😉
