Adding direction to the survey

Hi,

I have a client requirement to survey the contaminated land site and collect the data. Addition to this the client also want to collect the direction from the photo and then rotate the symbology on the web map using this field. So I have added another field in the survey as Direction and used the syntax from this blog

I am using this syntax  "pulldata("@exif", ${image}, "GpsImageDirection")" as shown in the blog and have tested this on two different phones Huawei P9 Lite and Samsun Galaxy A8+. I am getting the expected result from Huawei but not getting the same result from Samsung. I have used two different syntaxes (GPSImgDirection, GPSImageDirectionRef) to check if it's working on Samsung but no luck, but in fact after adding these Huawei stopped showing me the result.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks,

Anu

Hi Anu,

Is it possible to share the testing photos so we can take a look? You can send them to zliu@esri.com, and are you using the Survey123 Field App or on web browsers? If it's on the Field App, which version are you using?

Thanks a lot,

Hi Anu,

Thanks for sending the testing photos and survey. The GPSImgDirection recorded in Exif of the photo is 0, which is the reading of Survey123 field app and web app. You could check Exif information with tools like http://exif.regex.info/exif.cgi, or https://blueimp.github.io/JavaScript-Load-Image/

Thanks and best regards,
