Spatial Analyst Tools Crash or Hang

Hi,

I am using an Evaluation Edition of ArcGIS 10 and have been using some Spatial Analyst tools: Polyline to Raster, Polygon to Raster, Point to Raster, and Reclassify. They were prone to hanging upon opening, so I installed SP2.

Now, they are completely unusable. Any of the "X to Raster" tools now always hang upon opening (the dialog box looks like it is opening, but it is completely white and I'm forced to end the program) while the Reclassify tool will open occasionally (it often hangs, too), but when I run it, I get an error that says "ArcGIS Desktop has encountered a serious application error and is unable to continue."

I also installed this patch: http://resources.arcgis.com/content/patches-and-service-packs?fa=viewPatch&PID=160&MetaID=1767, in case that helped at all. It didn't.

No amount of restarting the application or computer will help this. I am going to reinstall ArcMap, but I thought I'd ask if there are any known fixes first, because this problem was happening prior to the installation of SP2. Thanks for any help.

Were you upgrading from a previous version of ArcMap?  If so I would recommend clearing out all of the Esri related files in your profile prior to re installing, I have seen certain setups where there are remnants of the previous version that did not get removed.  If it is still problematic, then I recommend creating a Support Incident for specific help.
