I mean subsequently its worked fine plenty of times, but that error was really weird.  Found a few other comments about similar problems, not sure what would cause it though.

We converted the DEM file to GRID successfully but same error still encountered for Flow Direction.

Were you using the default option when creating the flowdirecion or did you change one of the parameters?  And again, you are using projected data (eg. UTM)  At this stage you can only produce a list of the input and output filenames, the coordinate system, the Environment settings for grid cell size and extent and the options you used in the Flowdirection tool in ArcToolbox

I didn't change anything on the parameter but I tried to run flow direction in other server that we have and some are working and completed successfully. It's kinda weird but right now, this is how it works on us though i still not sure what exactly causing the error. I even added more disk space for I am thinking it might be one of the reason (low disk space). I still have plenty of raster files that needs flow direction and i'm not sure how i could complete all of those with this inconsistent result of arc gis.

Try running it on a local machine rather than on a server...you can always move the results over after...it could be a server issue
