Hi,

I have a few question which is I have a gridded bathymetry data contains xyz (long, lat and depth). How can I calculate the gradient for every depth points from east to west and north to south. Does the ArcGIS can run this or do I have to calculate manually (but there's hundred thousand points!), can I use excel. But how, please I'm stuck.

Thank you guys!:D

Project your data and calculate the slope

Thanks a lot Dan. By the way, how can we generate the report of the automated calculation run from the system (ArcGIS) when we using the slope analysis? I already projected the data and get from visual interpretation I can identify the maximum change of the slope. Second question, how can I create the profile (cross section) of the area, to see the steepness of the area? Many thanks 🙂

You will need the 3D analyst extension...it has a profile/cross-section tool which will produce a graphical representation and a file which can be used for subsequent analysis
