FeatureLayer (created from JSON) & Definition Expressions

Are layer definition expressions supported on a Feature Layer that has been created using the initWithLayerDefinitionJSON method?  I've specified the fields in the layer definition JSON and just tried a simple "OBJECTID = 1" def query with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When using the initWithLayerDefinitionJSON method (what we refer to as feature collections), definition expressions are not honoured.
