Secure ArcGIS services and ArcGIS mobile app

I read in the ArcGIS online blog

about the new ability to connect to secure ArcGIS services. I'm just wondering how that works in relation to any of the mobile apps (iOS, Android, WP7).

Will a user of the app have to enter a username/password to view the map(s). Do the apps even have that functionality, if no, will they and when?

I realize in the app we can sign-in to an ArcGIS server, but I'm looking at a specifically a secure map on ArcGIS.com.

BTW, sorry for the cross-posting.  I posted this question originally in the ArcGIS online forum, but it was suggestion I post here as well as the iOS forum.

Thanks!

Matthew,

Secure ArcGIS Server services are now supported in ArcGIS Online maps when you add  the layer directly to the map. From the map, click Add, then click Layer  from the web. Enter the URL to the ArcGIS Server service and click OK.  You'll be prompted to enter a username and password. This web map can  then be referenced from a template and the user will be prompted to  enter the username and password. This is supported with ArcGIS Server 10  sp1 and later.

Currently the ArcGIS for Android App does not yet support secured services but is an enhancement for future release; ArcGIS for iOS App supports secured services (it asks the user to authenticate); and ArcGIS for Windows Phone App supports secured services (via tokens).

Hope this helps,
Denise

Denise,

Thanks for the quick reply.  Looking forward to the next app update.  I think it's a great app, but my biggest complaint is the inconsistencies between the three versions (though I've never used the WP7 app).
