Symbology Window Field Dropdown Does Not Update After AddField

I created a new field with "AddField" management tool. The highlighted dropdown does not include newly created attribute. To show the new attribute, I have to click the "unique value", select something else and the select "unique value" again. I think this operation triggers refresh of the dropdown. However, if I create the attribute directly in attribute table window, the dropdown shows the new field automatically. I there a event I can use to trigger the dropdown refresh like attribute table?

What version of Pro are you on? I am unable to reproduce this issue. 

Also, as an FYI - You can add fields to a dataset using DDL: Adding or Removing Fields
