When I Reshape or Split a polygon with Streaming tool, it alway waring that "new geometry must intersect the feature in at least two places", or "split failed, geometry must intersect polylines and polygons in two or more places", actually I click a polygon and then use these two tools, every time.

this situation occured more frequencyly when I move my mouse quickly, but I am sure the paths are intersected.

And sometimes, in this situation, I usually need pressing F2 twice then it fininsh successfully, press F2 once it will remind the warning above.

@AlvisDou Have you contacted Esri Technical Support? Sometimes it's easier to share your workflow and data with them. Based on the description so far, I can't reproduce the issue you are seeing. The most helpful information would be..

  • info about the coordinate system of the data being edited and the coordinate system of the map when editing (if they differ)
  • Screenshots and/or a video
  • version of the software.

@Scott_Harris Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry to say that the problem I mentioned above, although frequent, is not a problem that must appear, and I'm not sure exactly when he will appear, so I can't provide you with all the screenshots and videos.

But I just took a screenshot of an issue mentioned above, where I was using the Reshape Streaming tool with the target polygon selected and making sure that the boundaries of my Reshape intersected the boundaries of the polygon in two places, and I still had the issue of pressing F2 and still reporting an error, and after I pressed F2 a second time, the Reshape completed.

My software version is 2.9.3, the latest version. About you mentioned Esri Technical Support above, cause I bought ArcGIS Pro via the website of Esri US, but Im in China, so Im not sure if it is useful or where should I search for support.

@AlvisDou For support, this link may help https://www.esrichina.hk/en-hk/technical-support/support-services

A tip for using the streaming tool with reshape would be to turn off snapping, since as you pass over the edge of another feature snapping occurs along the edge and that may introduce unwanted geometry changes.

Another tip would be to control the streaming options (right click on the map which streaming to access the options - or hit O key) from there, set the tolerance to a value that makes sense for the data being collected.

Perhaps with those tips you won't experience the issue you described here.
