Union Tool Errors

Hello everyone, 

I've trying to use Union Tool to have a final feature layer so that I can assign runoff curve numbers to each soil type-land use combination. However. Union tool is giving me an error of invalid topology (ERROR:160196).
How can I solve this problem?

First, there are different tools for union (raster layer or vector layer). Which layer are you using?
