Strip Map Index Features but without angle please

Is there a way to create a Strip Map Index based on a line feature, but not have the page indexes rotate as they follow the line? I want all of my pages to be vertical, and I don't want to change the angle by hand, or write a script to do it. I don't like the Grid Index tool because line features inevitably end up cutting awkwardly through the corner of a page, especially when it's going diagonal.

Here's the typical Strip Map Index (not good = angled):

Here's the typical Grid Index (not good = weird line coverage):

Here's what I want (approximately):

The main difference from the grid index is that I want the overlap to be variable in order to get the best coverage of the feature.

Is there an easy way to do this? I feel like I'm just missing a tool parameter or something, but I'm stuck, without making a complex script.

Hi @Scoth

You are not missing a tool parameter. There is no setting that will give you what you're looking for. Unfortunately, I believe you will need to edit each grid manually - set rotation value to zero and move the grid - to get what you want.

Hope this helps,

Tom
