I am working on 3D map of the city. All buildings are visualized from polygons. My task is to connect polygons into buildings. I tried it with the "Merge" tool, but i have big issues with it.
Firstly,as you can see on the photo, after merging polygons, the whole shape is distorted or even completly disapears.
Secondly, as i try to merge for example wall with roof, error "cannot merge overlaping polygons with differing z values.

I will be very grateful for your time and advices

Hi!

Try to find the field that has/have different length size, via the attribute table. The polygon those have been displayed blue in your map means that the size of its length does not match the other polygon.

Best,

Don't worry about attribute and property, if these steps worked for you.

Good Luck

Hi!

You are most welcome, what is the problem? Please send me a screenshot where you faced a problem. Your attribute table does not have Height for the building. If you want to merge polygon with polygon, there is another method. Your attribute table as you shown above does not have height, you can fill it with the elevation height of your 3D attribute table via geoprocessing tool.

Hi!

Please do not think about merging (another method), you have already in the final step to connect your 2D shp with 3D Scene.

Hi!

1.Convert you 2D map to 3D as I shown on my screenshots.

2. Select height from elevation  menu again, and make sure it works well.

3. Select View tab and then link views as shown below.

As  soon as you done this process your 2D and 3D connected together.

I manually created an attribute field for height and then extruded it, it works well. Below is a 3D view of Košice Slovakia.

Your attribute table already has height for  the building.

Good luck
