Hi Everyone,
I am using ArcGISPro version 2.6. I was wondering what tool to use to measure the distance from a point (representing feature used by animal) to the edge of a polygon (representing the animal's home range) which overlaps the points (i.e., all points from animal are contained within the home range)?
I have used the Near tool in the past, but if I use the Near tool (at least in the way I am familiar with) for this analysis, all the points will get a distance of zero to the polygon as they are contained within the bounds of the polygon. Is there another tool I can use or a way to change the settings of the near tool to ask it to measure the distance to outer edge of the polygon? Thanks so much.
Best regards,
Lucas
Solved! Go to Solution.
You can use Polygon To Line or Feature To Line to convert polygons to lines. Then use Near to get distance from points to the lines.
Thanks, that makes a lot of sense!
You are welcome. I am glad it worked for you. 🙂
