I am trying to map parcel boundaries using legal descriptions in Arc Pro but I am having trouble. Does anyone have a good workflow for doing so that can be easily repeated so that I can quickly match legal descriptions to the KML parcels?
The Traverse tool is pretty much as good as it gets. If you familiarize yourself with the keyboard shortcuts, you can enter a traverse pretty quickly.
Your question is pretty general, though. What do your descriptions look like? What are "the KML parcels"? What is your current process like?
The legal descriptions use direction and distance from an origin point. By kml parcels I mean I am trying to compare the parcel boundaries from kml files I have to the boundaries described in the legal descriptions to make sure they line up. My current process was to use chatgpt to read the legal description and then give me the coordinates of the boundaries of the parcel so I could create it as a polygon layer in arc.
I know I have been researching this topic for some time. There is also the issue of the GCS and the PCS. I had a parcel that was not aligning along the final segments. I told my supervisor something was not translating right but he took the work anyways. To this day, I am haunted about the fact on how to interpret these items and map them correctly. I used the traverse tool.
