Labels - How do I drop numbers ONLY if the label doesn't fit

I have an 11 digit parcel number. Instead of reducing font size, if the label doesn't fit in the parcel shape, is there a way I can ask it to drop the first 6 digits ONLY if it doesn't fit? I'm labelling an Arch E map with many parcels. The adjacent parcel numbers will give the RTS number in the first 6 digits so it's ok to drop several of these. This would be a really useful expression to have for so many other maps in our office.

[parcels.RTS] &vbnewline & [parcels.PARC]   In this case I would like to drop [parcels.RTS] if this label doesn't fit and only use, [parcels.PARC] .  Alternately, we also have these two numbers combined in [parcels.ASSESSOR_N] and perhaps there is a way to tell to it to drop the first 6 numbers if it doesn't fit since the first six are the range, township, section.

Many thanks. Rae
