Labeling in Tiles versus Vector Tiles: Is this the expected behavior?

Consider this tiled layer based on pro share as tile layer, which, for the most part, honors my label strategy:

and now vector tiles (indexed):

What gives with the repeat labeling, and not honoring the offset? I'm kinda new to VT's, is that the default behavior? Coincidentally, the same labeling style works perfectly in CartoCSS, so I know it's not a limitation of the VT format.

Thomas, there are issues that we know about with label placement in vector tiles.  There is a request logged through technical support: [ENH-000098440: Allow Vector Tiles to carry over label placement properties when created in ArcGIS Pro.]

You could go here if you choose to add what you're seeing: https://community.esri.com/ideas/12413 or log a case to be attached to that ENH.  Not that you need to as we are well aware of the issues and that team is working on improvements... but the options are there for you.

Thank you.

Is this still a known issue as of May 2020? I am experiencing a similar problem, and after much working and re-working of the labels wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Kory Kramer

This is definitely still a problem as at Jan 2021. Can someone please post a link to the technical article mentioned above? I haven't been able to find it.

Thanks

It seems, that not all properties of Maplex label Engine - which is default in Pro, are supported in Vector Tiles style. From my epxperience the Standard label engine solve the issue.

At least in case of line features, this could solve the issue.

8 years later from the idea Kory linked to and I'm still seeing duplication of labels along streets. Wish vector tile could support Maplex for more professional looking labels.
