How to create stacked/vertical text?

I'm stumped on this one...I'm trying to insert vertical (aka stacked) text (not a label) on a map and can't seem to figure out the correct settings.  Does anybody know how to do this?

FYI...this is what I mean by stacked text:

I did do this in the text edit box, but it just doesn't look right, and it just doesn't seem right either.  Thanks!

Hi 

I created vertical labels using the Arial Unicode MS font, glyph orientation of Upright and Block progression of Right to left.  You can apply these text symbol settings in layout text elements as well.
