How to call validation scripts updateParameters function once for a specific case only ?

I want to add the AGOL layer to the current map after choose the online feature layer in toolbox.
I have use below code in the tools validation script. But this script will add AGOL layer multiple times to the map. I am trying to find out the bugs in my code but i still i have no luck. So i want to limit the call for the updateParameters function so that my code can give output. Please let me know how i can achieve this in arcpy validation scripts ?
