I have tried using the task Create Level of Detail 2 Building included in this exercise https://learn.arcgis.com/en/projects/extract-roof-forms-for-municipal-development/lessons/create-3d-... and after following the steps for my own buildings footprint shapefile, DSM and DEM raster ( as well as the nDSM resulting from the Minus Tool) the task failed to give any results. Can this task actually be applied to other buildings apart from those specified in the exercise? If so, are there any known limitations or usual user errors that might have caused this malfunction? Thank you.

It's a few months later, but in case someone else has the same question.

If you try to drag the tasks else where (as I had attempted to) it is still going to recall the file locations to the downloaded package from ESRI. You can use other data in the package itself. Setting up the tasks to run everything outside of that package is more work than adding the data you need. I did run into problems however with the expectation I'd be able to just add my data and work away with the tasks.

You can create your DTM, DSM, and then your nDSM using the LAS Dataset to Raster tool.

Apply the filters and select the right ground returns as prompted here: https://www.esri.com/~/media/Files/Pdfs/library/workshops/arcgis102-3d-workshop.pdf

ESRI just seems to give their stuff facelifts even though it is essentially the same workflow most of the time in a much 'nicer' looking platform (Pro). The tasks are essentially using that tool in the beginning. After you create your rasters and you can verify they look accurate you can then add those to the Local Government project and work from there.
