I am currently working on a wildfire and my colleagues and I have all had the same issue with the explode tool. After using the tool, the exploded parts become unselectable. The problem resolves itself after saving the edits and restarting Pro, but that isn't much of a solution. The bug has been observed on both lines and polygons and both shapefiles and file geodatabases.

Hi Michelle,
Are you sure the issue isn't that the Explode tool is filtering the selection?
The tool is expecting multipart features, and the Explode tool's Active Select tool will not select single part features - it filters them from being selected and only selects multipart features.
This is the Active Select tool that's found on the Modify Features pane when some editing tools are active:
When using the tool, the Select cursor is black:
If you switch to the core Select tool found on the ribbon of the Edit or Map tab, the Explode tool will no longer be active and the cursor will switch to white, indicating the selection will no longer be filtered:
Core select tool found on the ribbon
Using this select tool should allow you to select and act on the the recently exploded features.

FYI - Based on feedback like this, we are planning to improve this experience in future releases.
Does this help?
Thanks,
Scott
Do you need to do the 'explode' functionality one at a time, or selectively or can you not do it all at once.

Thanks Scott, that seemed to have been the issue. You would think that the three of our combined years/decades of experience that we would have been able to figure it out.
