I know this is a very common task in the GIS world, but this is a new project/special request for me that has landed at my desk and need some guidance on how to proceed.
We have a series of electric/water accounts broken up into billing/reading cycles and we use to, back in the day, add a read sequence identifier to each record. Fast forward 2 decades and that has become old practice. NOW, I am asked to redo the read sequence for all of the services in all the books that will assist with a variety of other tasks.
What I need to do is use the Network Analyst in ArcGIS Pro to create a route for each reading book. However, the final output needs to produce a numeric sequential identified for each "stop" within that route from start to finish that I can then append into our overall billing database.
According to the research I have done, I am not sure how to produce that sequential numerical identifier after creating a route.
EDIT: In the Route Layer - Stops, there is a field "Sequence" that I am trying to get auto-populated based on the route calculations. On the first attempt, the fields are all populated with "1", so apparently, I did something wrong.
Appreciate any guidance.
