Convert Labels to Annotation with the lable has remove extra lines breaks enabled failing with edits

I have created labels for my point layer. I am trying to label multiples fields stacked.  So it looks like

[TEXT1] &vbnewline& [TEXT2] &vbnewline& [TEXT3] &vbnewline& [TEXT4] &vbnewline& [TEXT5] ....[TEXT50]

I have "remove extra spaces" and "remove extra line breaks" enabled and the labels are beautiful. 

I convert that to annotation with "create feature-linked annotation" enabled.  They are still beautiful.

But when I go to the source and edit any field in the point file the annotation layer updates with all of the blank rows returned. 

Is there a better way to do this?

With the release of ArcGIS Pro 3.5, feature linked annotations have been updated so that the Remove extra line breaks setting is honored when their linked features are updated.
