I'm working on a layout in ArcGIS Pro. I've added a UTM grid but in order not to obscure the map data I would like to show only the grid interesects as hatches. This was possible in ArcMap but I cannot find a similar option in Pro.

Could you help with a screenshot/ drawing of what you meant by "show only the grid intersects as hatches."?

Is the UTM grid you are referring to, a feature class or added from Grids and Graticules (Data Frame Properties)?

Oh I see. I am not having the ArcGIS Pro with me. Have you checked Add and modify graticules—Layouts | ArcGIS Desktop ?
