My feature class uses a Lambert-Projection (EPSG 4312). When attempting to calculate the area in square kilometers using the 'Calculate geometry attribute' tool in ArcGIS Pro, the result returned is in square meters instead. Interestingly, this problem appears to be unique to Lambert-Projections. I have tested other Lambert-Projections on other FC as well, and had the same issue. However, for transverse projections such as UTM or the British National Grid, the calculation returned the correct value in square kilometers. I am unsure whether this is a bug or if there is a rational explanation for this. Help would be very appreciated.
